A recount may have changed the outcome, but Cooley's campaign manager stated that the recount cost was prohibitive. Harris was declared winner.

Steve Cooley promised to defend the Prop 8 ballot measure if elected Attorney General. Harris, on the other hand, supported same-sex marriage and ran her campaign promising to oppose Prop 8.

Yet, in office as AG and under the California Constitution, Harris was bound to defend ballot measures in Court whether or not she agreed with them. Harris betrayed her oath of office along with failing the people of California for refusing, along with Gov. Jerry Brown, to defend before the Supreme Court a voter-approved ballot measure.

And while the Supreme Court also failed in its responsibility for its ruling about those 'filling in' as having 'no standing to appeal' on Prop 8, a political writer aptly pointed out yesterday that, "This [Supreme] Court decision would have been very different had Steve Cooley won. Let this be a lesson as to the importance of activism . . . to defend the fabric of society."Marynoreply@blogger.com
