'Catholic' Sebelius to lead HHS?

From the AP:

WASHINGTON – Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius was near the top of President Barack Obama's list of candidates to head the Health and Human Services Department, a senior administration official said Saturday.

Back in May of 2008 we (and many faithful Catholics) commended Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, when he said that Governor Sebelius' positionon abortion "constitutes a scandal to the faithful." The good Archbishop further said the Governor should no longer receive communion.

As his brother Bishop, Bishop Martino said recently of Senator Robert Casey:

"I remind you that your responsibilities as a Catholic bound by the faith of the Church exceed even those of your office."

If in fact Sebelius is appointed head of the Department of Health and Human Services, it will be interesting to see Archbishop Naumann's response.

To follow "Catholic" Tom Daschle, who was told by his (then) bishop, to stop claiming to be Catholic as he was supporting abortion.

So Obama has to find ex-Catholics (or perhaps apostate Catholics) to lead us into the culture of death?

President Obama was elected by a majority of Americans who ignored abortion to address much larger issues for the US and the world.

He is free to choose whomever is best to run our government. Whether a cabinet members is pro abortion or not is, or should be, irrelevant; abortion is legal - the law of the land. It is the hord right evangelicals who fight continuously to have the government restrict abortions in spite of the legality and the right of women to choose.

I hope she gets the job.
