Salesian Sisters Centennial Celebration

We had a great event over the weekend at Saints Peter and Paul: our Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (the Salesian Sisters) celebrated their first 100 years in the US!

honored the Sisters.

Flags were displayed form every country where the Salesian Sisters have a presence: 89 countries!

and inside the church. Fr. John gave a great homily.

Our dear Sisters process in. The sisters now number over 15,000.
They are the second largest order of Catholic women religious in the world.

The Knights of Malta, the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher,
and the Knights of Columbus attended. Bishop Justice said he's never felt so well guarded in his life! Many representatives of other religious orders attended, including Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity

Salesian Priests came from all over to concelebrate the Mass. He's not in the picture, but you know Fr. Malloy was there!

And our good Bishop Bill Justice was the Celebrant.

It was a great event. The parishioners were thrilled to have a chance to show the sisters how much they mean to us. There was a party with a big spread and a Chinese Lion Dance afterwards. It's just a big happy family: priests, nuns, kids, babies, old-timers, people of every ethnicity. Thanks to all who worked so hard on making the event such a big success!
