The Problem is not the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence...

...it's Most Holy Redeemer Parish, and the failure to exercise rightful authority by the successive Bishops of San Francisco. By now we have all seen the video of Archbishop Niederauer giving communion to the two SPI's on October 7.

But the latest revelation from qdomine.com is in some ways even more shocking. The Church was hosting meetings of "leather (read S/M)" motorcycle clubs for over six years, and a photographer who chronicles such things was there taking photos. Remember, the things you see are taking place on church property.

The SPI's attending Mass could have been shrugged off as a one-time event (though obviously it wasn't) where everybody was caught by surprise, even though some parishioners are obviously familiar with and welcoming to, the SPI's. But these latest pictures show what was considered to be completely acceptable behavior taking place on Church property over at least the past six years. What the hell is our Archdiocese going to do about this?

On its own, nothing. With sufficient exposure and public outcry by Catholics nationwide, possibly another ineffective slap-on-the-wrist à la its October 31st, 2006 action cancelling the SPI's bingo fundraiser last year. Anything beyond that will require imposition by Rome (and not mere censures or appeals).

In the meantime, faithful Catholics need to continue to document and make public the abuses at MHR, report them all the way up the chain to the Holy Father, stop supporting the Archdiocese (support faithful priests instead), and pray for saints to shepherd our Archdiocese -- and MHR.

It makes me nauseous to know there were bare butt men, giving each other opened mouthed kisses and kissing others private body parts. It saddens me to think at one time this church hall actually had real families (mom's and dad's grandparents and children) socializing in the hall. MHR is our modern day Sodom and Gomorrah but multiplied by ten. Meriwether should be removed from MHR immediately before he leads more souls to the devil.

Nothing will happen until the current metropolitan is appointed to a titular see in North Africa.

How about excommunication for the priest and his parish. I'd like that very much.

"First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own passions." (2 Peter 3.3, RSV)

Can I translate "scoffers" to "mockers"?

What happened to the Church leaders who used to know what was going on in every nook and cranny of their diocese--and God help the miscreant parishoner or priest who trashed anything to do with the faith? When did we start inheriting weak, spineless, cowardly leaders. We were better off in the days before the 1950's when all the stories about prelates were about their dictatorial strictness and firmness in defense of the Faith and the Church.

I fear this is just the kind of attention these lost souls are seeking. Ask them what widows and orphans they have cared for lately and see what they do.

How about excommunication for all the priests and religious who spend (sic) their time bemoaning and blogging instead of praying, evangelizing, and ministering? An 80 year old (sic) man spending all his days on the computer. There is tragedy there.

Too, what is the obsession with homosexuality consistently addressed in this blog? Do we really believe that addressing the liturgical aberrations at MHR will resolve issues of world hunger, global poverty, international trafficking, and social sin? The myopic view of this blog is very disappointing and leads me to believe only that humanity has become very parochial and quite selfish. Not so, not so! Ad gentes!

Stopping sacrilege of the Holy Eucharist might just save the world. We certainly not going to be blessed when people are descrating His Body and Blood. I just hope all of Northern California doesn't go down in flames. It's certainly deserves to.
