When all else fails, blame the messenger....

seems to be the latest take from our Archdiocese on the Archbishop Niederauer/ Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence/ Most Holy Redeemer event.

One question: the Archbishop celebrates Mass every Sunday at the Cathedral. If the SPI's "wanted an opportunity to welcome the Archbishop to San Francisco" as they claim, why did they wait 18 months until the day he celebrated Mass at Most Holy Redeemer?

Update:

Diogenes & American Papist weigh in.

What is the obsession with homosexuality here? I'm with the person down below (no pun intended Father, don't excited) who alludes to the reality that this preoccupation with sexual identity issues ignores deeper unresolved issues. What would the rector major say? Hmmmm.

Anonymous,

Homosexual sex is condemned in the Bible. Read Romans 1:6-9. This doctrine has been clearly and consistently taught by the Church for 2,000 years.

There's no obsession here; only a reaction to those who wish to destroy the Church. Although practicing homosexuals are free to wallow in sin, they will not be content until they have silenced any voice that dare say "nay". Indeed, you are insulting and harassing Father Malloy now, I presume in an effort to silence him.

There is no contradiction between condemning public sin and loving the Lord with all your soul. Indeed, scripture commands this. I have naught but joy in my heart now as I write this. I pray that you may find such joy.

Again, my question is what is this obsession with homosexuality? A simple question. Your immediate defensive stance is of great concern too. Engage in dialogue to see the truth. It is much more healthy and Christlike.
