Following the President's pathetic debate performance against Governer Mitt Romney those on the left are outdoing themselves in "throwing him under the bus." See Andrew Sullivan, Bill Maher, Chris Matthews.
Why? Because it is obvious that his policies have brought the country to the brink of disaster. But they like those policies, they agree with those policies. So the problem cannot be seen to be the policies, it has to be Obama. Just as the problem with Communism was not Communism, it was Stalin. This is the same Obama who, just about two minutes ago (historically speaking), the same people were depicting as the greatest president since George Washington.
