Pelosi, the Archbishop, and Murder...

Archbishop George Niederauer of San Francisco has addressed the storm created by Nancy Pelosi 11 days ago on "Meet the Press."

In his concluding paragraph, His Excellency says:

"Speaker Pelosi has often said how highly she values her Catholic faith, and how much it is a source of joy for her. Accordingly, as her pastor, I am writing to invite her into a conversation with me about these matters. It is my obligation to teach forthrightly and to shepherd caringly, and that is my intent. Let us pray together that the Holy Spirit will guide us all toward a more profound understanding and appreciation for human life, and toward a resolution of these differences in truth and charity and peace."

Indeed, let us pray. Let us also pray that during their meeting, if it happens, His Excellency summons more outrage than appears in this statement.

Let us also pray that during the "conversation about these matters" it is not forgotten that "these matters" are the murder of over 1 million defenseless human beings every year.

The full statement is here.
