Early Maine Results

With 14% of the vote counted, the Bangor Daily News reports Question 1, the repeal of Maine's law legalizing same-sex "marriage" is trailing 52-47%. Not knowing anything about the demographics of the precincts that have reported it is hard to judge.

Turnout is reported to be heavy.

UPDATE 6:39 PST: With 17% of precincts reporting it is now 51-49.

UPDATE 6:45 PST: A glitch in the Bangor Daily News election page. They now show only 5% of precincts reporting with Question 1 trailing 54-45%. The page also shows far fewer vote totals than the earlier version.

UPDATE 6:56 PST: Glitch apparently fixed. It's back at 17% of precincts reporting Question 1 trailing 51.3-48.7%
UPDATE 7:04 PST: With 22% reporting, Question 1 trails 50.62-49.38. According to the AP there were about 100,000 absentee ballots in this election.
